However if reptiles fascinate you or you are brave enough to conquer your fears, you have to be there to see the largest collection of reptiles on show and for sale in South Africa. This is the 4th annual SOS Reptile expo. Last year there were over 2500 visitors who attended the expo and the program that aired on Kyknet and featured in leading newspapers has proved how popular reptiles have become. Only captive bred exotic reptiles are offered for sale. Common animals like corn snakes and leopard geckos are on offer, as well as exclusive extremely valuable reptiles have been for sale in the past. Every serious reptile breeder is represented at this expo, including those from KwaZulu Natal, Northwest, Mpumalanga, Free State and the Cape Provinces If you want to learn more about reptiles, venoms or how to look after your pet then check the times that talks will be held in the adjoining hall. Here youngsters will also be allowed to touch non venomous snakes and reptiles, and possibly have photographs taken here too. You are guaranteed to see a larger variety of reptiles on display than what any snake park or zoo in South Africa has to offer. The venue has ample parking and there are shops to provide food and beverages as well. The Expo opens on Saturday at 09h00 till 17h00 and on Sunday from 09h00 till 14h00. | Ontario Reptile Expo www.reptileexpo.ca The Ontario Reptile Expo is an event which allows individuals that have the same enthusiasm and passion for herpetoculture to gather in one location to share their experiences, their history and their concerns for the animals they all enjoy working with. "Herpetoculture" a word pegged by the late Tom Huff defined as the science and or keeping of reptiles. At one time a sub ground hobby it has now become one of the fastest growing areas within the pet world. With this growth level also comes a much larger responsibility to the animals in which we care for. One of the many objectives of The Ontario Reptile Expo is to assist in the educaton of the new keepers and updating some of the older keepers. By offering many unique events at these Expo's we are hoping, along with the vendors, that many of the reptiles leaving the Expo to their new homes will enjoy many years of comfort and propagation to fulfill the wants of the many future herpetoculturists. Vendors from across the country display their respective products, captive bred offspring, reptile related merchandise and supplies. All under one roof for one day. Reptile Clubs, Reptile Rescue missions and various government related programs are also present to help answer any questions that any novice or long term herper need answered on the spot. |

| Reptiles et arachnidés, Saint just en Chaussée, France Ouverture au public le samedi de 14h à 18h et le dimanche de 9h30 à 18h. But de l'exposition : Sensibiliser les personnes à la détention de ces nouveaux animaux de compagnie (N.A.C.) de façon ludique et éducative. Moyens : exposition d'animaux vivants, bourse d'échanges d'animaux exclusivement d'élevage, présentoirs reprenant les thèmes importants de l'expo : élevage et détention, nourriture appropriée, maladies, hibernation, législation, etc... mise à disposition de livres, magazines, documents divers, possibilité d'adhérer à une association qui donne accès à différentes informations et aides, toujours très utiles. Souhaits : faire découvrir des animaux mal connus et craints : serpents, lézards... faire prendre conscience que ces animaux ne sont pas des jouets ou des "passades", contribuer à une bonne connaissance de la législation sur la détention de ces animaux et à la sauvegarde des espèces dont beaucoup sont menacées, informer de la difficulté à détenir de tels animaux : la contrainte de temps : ces animaux vivent souvent longtemps, il faut passer beaucoup de temps à s'en occuper. l'expérience : ne pas acheter les animaux sans s'être auparavant bien documenté. le coût financier après l'achat de l'animal. l'espace vital nécessaire : certains animaux demandent souvent des vivariums ou terrariums importants (à l'age adulte, le python molure atteint 5 mètres pour 60 Kilos) expo.reptiles.free.fr |
