Instruction Manual
Introduction
The Exo Terra Terrarium is the ideal reptile or amphibian housing designed by European herpetologists. The front opening doors allow easy access for maintenance and feeding. A specially designed lock will prevent escape and the doors can be opened separately. The full screen top ventilation allows UVB and infrared penetration, and is completely removable for easy access while decorating or cleaning. In the back of the screen cover are 5 closable wire or tube inlets on both sides to install Heat Wave Rocks, Waterfalls, sensors, etc. inside the terrarium. The bottom plate of the terrarium is raised to mount a substrate heater to heat a part of the extended ground surface (45 x 45cm). The extra high fixed front window is ideal for thick layers of substrates (burrowing reptiles), aquatic parts (paludarium) or to mount an Exo Terra reptile den. The natural background is in the same colour like all other Exo Terra decoration items (Water Dishes, Waterfalls, Heat Wave Rocks, etc.) and provides an extra climbing dimension.
Important
- Please read this instruction manual carefully and completely and make sure you have received all components before setting up the terrarium.
- Please observe the safety instructions and maintenance guidelines given in this manual.
- This instruction manual has been carefully prepared to provide you with accurate and complete information. All efforts have been made to ensure that the information given is correct. However, we cannot accept responsibility for printing or other errors. Technical details are always approximate and are not warranted characteristics and may be subject to change without notice.
- When partly filled with water, always unplug all immersed electrical equipment from mains before placing your hands into the water.
Unpack the terrarium
Remove the tank from the packaging material. Wash and clean the terrarium using a wet paper towel or clean sponge to remove dust. Do not use glass cleaner or detergents to clean the inside of the tank.
Check your terrarium
Make sure that all components are present and there are no cracks in the glass that may have been caused during transport. All terrariums have been carefully inspected and tested before packing; however it is advisable to fill the terrarium with water to 2 cm below the ventilation strip on the front when it is the intention to build an ecosystem with a large water part or a paludarium. Make sure the terrarium is placed on a dry surface so leakage can be detected easily.
Choose a location
Carefully select a permanent site for your tank. Select an area with a fairly constant temperature of 68 to 77° F. Place the tank so it receives diffused light as direct sunlight will raise the temperature drastically and should be avoided at all times. Do not place the terrarium in areas where it is subjected to chemical fumes or smoke. Once the tank has been placed in position, begin construction of the ecosystem.
Install electrical equipment (inside the terrarium)
If you intend to install any electrical equipment like the Heat Wave Rock, Waterfalls, Foggers or pumps inside the terrarium, the background has to be removed gently.
To remove the background: remove the top screen and carefully pull the background towards you using both hands. Remove the entire background from the terrarium. The deep ridges in the back of the background are the channels for wires and tubes.
Select a location for the electrical unit in the tank and guide the wires over the rear glass through on of the wire inlets on the left or right side of the terrarium. Place the background back in its original position, but ensure yourself that wires and tubes stay in position and fit in the deep ridges on the back of the background. Close the top screen cover, guiding the tubes and wires through the proper inlets and close the remaining holes.
Install lighting equipment
Info: A full series of Exo Terra lighting equipment is under development. Please check the website regularly for updates and availability.
Installing the Exo Terra Glo Light
Use the clamp the clip the Glo Light on either the left or the right side of the terrarium; do not rest the lamp's reflector directly on the plastic parts of the screen top. Be careful not to position the light bulb directly over the plastic parts of the screen frame but position the center of the lamp over the metal screen only, at least 10 cm or 4” above the screen. Only bulbs of maximum a 100W should be used.
