Winner Nactus Award 2008

We are extremely pleased to announce the winner of the 2008 Nactus Award! This year's winner of our prestigious herpetological photography award is Mr. Paul Bratescu from Washington, USA. Our on-line voters have selected his photograph as the most striking of all of the competition’s entries.

As the winner, Mr. Bratescu will be accompanying the Exo Terra expedition team to Honduras as the official expedition photographer. In addition, he will receive the 1.5 kg Nactus Award statuette. Category winners are awarded a certificate and a guaranteed nomination in a runner-up category for one of their new entries in the 2009 Nactus Award contest! This means they skip the pre-selections and secure their chance of being voted overall winner in the 2009 Nactus Award competition.

At this time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the contestants. Our panel of judges found it quite challenging to select the six finalists for each category from amongst the hundreds of exceptional reptile and amphibian photographic entries that were received. All nominated pictures will be published in the 2009 Exo Terra yearbook, catalogue and calendar.

Of course, we owe a big "thank-you" to all of our on-line voters. The 2008 Nactus Award would not have been the huge success it was, if it were not for the thousands of people who took the time to visit the Exo Terra web site to view and vote for their favourite nominee.
